Twilight by Stephanie Meyer

Postby jodraper » Tue Dec 08, 2009 11:37 am

Unless you have been hibernating all winter you will have all heard of the Twilight series! The first book of the set is a brilliant read, and one I can thoroughly recommend to all.

The book is told by Bella, who falls in love with Edward when she moves to the small town of Forks to live with her dad. This is no normal love story though as Edward and his family are actually vampires. They have to deny their normal urges to drink human blood. The book tells of all the trials and tribulations that this brings! It is a very enjoyable and easy read, and quite hard to put down! Has anyone read the others in the series? Are they as highly recommended?

Hi Jo,

I haven't read any of the series yet :( but plan to get started on them next week. However Liz tells me that she was up until 3am finishing off the second book in the series, and then spent a day shopping in Canterbury yesterday in search of the third...so I am guessing that at least the second book is as well regarded as the first. Kate Mosse is another author to look out for - similar genre!

I have read all the Twilight books now. I would like Sam to hurry up and give the first book back as I'm going to read it again! I have also purchased another Stephanie Meyer book, Host, which I intend to read when I finish all the other books I was bought for Christmas! :ugeek:

Hi Sam,
Of course you can have the next one! I have lent out the fourth book to another friend, but because it's impossible to put these books down, I'm sure i will have it back by the time you need that one! I can't wait to read the first one again, a little obsessive?! I am currently reading Stephanie Meyer's Host and am finding it most addictive. I have had lots of discussions with people at work about this book and they all claim that it isn't as gooder read as the Twilight books, i reserve judgement until I'm finished. At the moment, I reluctanly put it down every night when I can't keep my eyes open anymore, so we'll see!

What are people's thoughts on the Twilight films vs books? I have to say that I loved the first film (it's the only one that I have seen) but I did see the film before I read the book. Lots of people that I have spoken to preferred the book over the film...although my sister hated the book as she felt that it just dragged on and on and on...but liked the film. What do you think?

LOVE BOTH!
I enjoyed aspects of both the film and the book. The film that comes out in the summer will be the test as I will have read the book before seeing it. I watch it over and over!
Anyway, now you have returned the book, I can read it over and over! When do you want the next one Sam?
